Continuing the tradition, started in the independence period of Latvia- to gather every year in Ložmetējkalns to thank our heroes- the Latvian Riflemen, who fought for their fatherland in World War One.
For the 18th time scouts and guides will assemble in the annual Winter gathering „Baltais Vilks” („The White Wolf”). In the gathering the history of World War One and Latvian Riflemen will be explored, discussed and remembered together with the youth. Interactive activities are planned for the gathering. Getting to know the historic equipment and food of the Latvian Riflemen (and trying it too), exciting games and commemoration events. An annual tradition of the gathering is reception of guests. Scouts and guides give a tour around the camp showing their living tents, the historic exhibition and tell the guests about themselves and the scout and guide movement to all interested guests.
So… during the camp, participants will challenge their character living outdoors in the Nordic Winter, will get new friends and will learn new things about history.
Time and location: 10.01.2020. – 12.01.2020. Ložmetējkalns, Latvia. (~40 km from capital Riga)
There is a possibility for a small amount of people join also prep-camp from 5.01.2020. Please write individually to international@skauti.lv.
Visiting day: Saturday: 11.01.2020. after 15:00
Goals of the gathering:
- Give the children and adolescents a chance to spend their free time actively and joyfully;
- To practice active citizenship;
- Reliving history in an interactive way, to learn about the life of Latvian riflemen;
- Increase the self- dependency and teamwork skills and personal independence;
- Opportunity to develop scouting, guiding and outdoors skills.
- Strengthening international scouting and guiding experience.
Living conditions: Gathering will fully take place outdoors and nights will be spent in stove- heated tents.

Participants: Members of the Latvian Scout and Guide Central Organisation, Latvian Christian Scouts and Latvian Youth Guard Centre young guards from the age of 12 and members of other Scout and guide organizations (WOSM and WAGGGS members)

Participants: 12-22 years’ old (each 10 kids need to have one leader)
Volunteers, troop leaders and adults- from 18
